The Gift of a Shared Experience

How Painting Together Can Create Lifelong Memories

In the midst of the holiday bustle, somewhere in between all the to-do lists, shopping, and cookie baking, I find a moment to stop and take a breath. There’s so much to do between now and the end of the year; I can hardly believe it’s almost over. And what a year it has been.

The highlight reel in my mind brings me back to long summer days at the lake with my family and forest hikes with my mom to see the trillium. Autumn walks with friends and game nights around the kitchen table. Each memory is a gift that’s strengthened these important relationships and filled our hearts with joy.

Glancing down at my family’s Christmas wish lists, I find myself reflecting on what truly matters. It’s certainly not the latest gadget or a perfectly wrapped gift. When it comes down to it, what matters more is the time spent with the people we love — the warmth of connection and making memories — together.  I feel it more this year than ever before. My oldest is heading off to college next fall. And I am searching for ways to slow time down and make the most of the time we have together.

That is why this year I am giving the gift of a shared experience. Have you tried it? There’s something really wonderful about sharing the joy of learning something new while also creating a memory with someone you love.

I’ve realized that when you give the gift of a shared experience, you give the gift of quality time — a lifelong memory and all the joy, warmth, and love that comes with it.

Why not make this season all about connection? Slowing down to spend time with the people in our lives. Giving a gift that brings us closer to those who matter most.

Are you in? Are you ready to create lasting memories and have something to look forward to in the new year?

Join me, because I have an idea that will transform your holiday gift-giving this year!

The Gift of Meaningful Moments That Outlast the Holidays

I find that now, more than ever, it’s easy to slip into the world of chronic busyness and digital distractions. At a time when we’re more “connected” than we’ve ever been, we so easily find ourselves more disconnected from the people who matter most.

I think that’s why I’ve come to appreciate the slow pace of winter. In a sense, winter gives us permission to nurture relationships and focus on intentional moments with those who matter most.

And isn’t that what we crave? Those real moments that make us laugh, feel seen, and bring us closer to one another. Some things you can’t just buy off a shelf — instead, they’re built through shared experiences and memories that continue long after the holidays.

Picture in your mind sitting side-by-side with a loved one, paintbrushes in hand, an array of colorful paints laid out in front of you. And you’re wearing cozy slippers, of course. Imagine learning something new — together — in that moment.

You can give the gift of a memorable shared experience with the Oil Painting Basics course that I've created for anyone wanting to rekindle their creativity — the perfect way to connect with someone in your life.

You see, the nature of oil painting invites you to slow down. This online painting course is more than just a class — it’s a chance to take a deep breath, deepen your mindfulness, bond, and make memories.

This winter, let’s choose connection over clutter

Let’s give gifts that invite joy, creativity, and relationships.

The Shared Experience of Learning Together

Stepping into something new can often be quite intimidating — trust me, I know. Last winter I tried downhill skiing for the first time. I had a lot of fear to overcome, but having my boys by my side cheering me on made all the difference.

Trying something new with someone you love — now somehow that feels less scary. There’s an increased confidence to step out of your comfort zone and a unique bonding moment you otherwise would have never experienced.

When you learn something new with someone else by your side, there’s an element of shared vulnerability. You’re both likely to make beginner mistakes, but you’ll be there to celebrate every little win along the way. A deeper sense of belonging. Building trust. Strengthening relationships.

Whether it’s your first time painting with oils or you’ve been painting for a while, there’s something incredibly calming and exhilarating about mixing colors and moving your brush along your canvas, bringing life and depth to your painting. It’s even more meaningful when you’re sharing that experience alongside someone else.

Oil Painting Basics is the perfect way to make this a reality for you and someone you love. This online oil painting course is beginner-friendly and designed to make painting feel approachable and fun

Whether you gift this course to a daughter, family member, or close friend, know that you're giving more than just a painting class – you’re giving quality time and the joy of nurturing creativity together.

Dave still remembers painting with his grandma when he was a teen. He treasures that time he was able to spend with her and has the painting to cherish and remember her by.

When you learn together, you can’t help but grow together — and those memories won’t collect dust.

Oil Painting Basics: A Fun and Meaningful Way to Connect

I created the Oil Painting Basics course with one goal in mind: to make painting accessible, fun, and meaningful for everyone — beginners picking up a brush for the first time or those revisiting a long-lost hobby.

With easy-to-follow lessons, I guide you through the process of painting your own masterpiece from start to finish. Everything from the supplies you’ll need (some of which you may already have at home!), mixing colors, and officially signing your finished piece — I’ve got you covered.

I’ve also included a bonus video walking you through how to discover your unique painting style.

One of the incredible benefits of this online painting course is that it’s pre-recorded, so you can enjoy it anytime, anywhere, and at your own pace.

  • Make a day of it with someone you love! Bring snacks, drink coffee and tea. Wear cozy slippers.

  • Or make it a weekly date and break up the course over a few mini-sessions (yes, you can do that with this course!) Extend this rejuvenating shared experience.

This painting course has already positively impacted the creative lives of many participants — giving them the tools and confidence they needed to continue painting. Perhaps you and your loved one are the next budding artists to paint through this class?

One student shared how she “thoroughly enjoyed taking [the] online course,” going through the course material multiple times to soak everything in.

Another student said it was surprisingly fun to learn about color mixing — how “relaxing and beautiful” it was to slow down and mix different hues and shades. After going through the class, she feels “much more confident, inspired, and no longer intimidated by oil painting!”

As for me, oil painting has been a consistent source of relaxation over the years — a much-needed escape from the busyness of life. Through painting, I’ve learned to let go of perfectionism and renew joy within, becoming more mindful and present in my life.

I would love to share that same renewing calm with you.

This winter, I invite you and a loved one to slow down and rekindle your creativity with the Oil Painting Basics course.

Give the gift of shared experience and learn something new together.
